FIRST THINGS FIRST
Before you start figuring out your favorite coffee shop or where to grab dinner, there are a few not-so-exciting things to knock out first. Here are some of the basics you’ll probably need when getting settled in Mt. Juliet.
💧 Water + Sewer
Most Mt. Juliet-area residents receive water through West Wilson Utility District, while sewer service for properties within the city is handled separately by the City of Mt. Juliet. That means you may receive separate water and sewer bills.

Buzz Tip: Your exact utility provider can depend on your address, especially outside the city limits, so double-check before setting up service.
⚡ Electricity
Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) provides electric service throughout Mt. Juliet and has a local office at 2722 N. Mt. Juliet Rd. New residents can start or transfer residential service online.
🚗 Driver’s License + Vehicle Registration
If you’re moving to Tennessee from another state, Tennessee currently requires new residents with an out-of-state driver’s license to obtain a Tennessee license within 30 days of establishing residency. The state recommends starting the application online and allows you to have your documents pre-approved before visiting a Driver Services Center.

For vehicle registration, Wilson County has a convenient Mt. Juliet County Clerk location at 10905 Lebanon Rd. that handles auto and boat registrations.
🗑️ Trash + Recycling
Trash service can vary depending on exactly where you live, so check with your HOA, landlord, builder or previous homeowner to confirm the provider for your address.

KIDS + SCHOOLS 🎒
Moving with kids comes with a whole extra list of questions — What school are we zoned for? Where do we register? Where are the parks? And how do we get these kids involved in something?
Here are a few good places to start.
🏫 Wilson County Schools
Mt. Juliet is served by Wilson County Schools, and your zoned school depends on your home address. Because school zones can change as our area grows, we always recommend using the district’s official School Zone Lookup rather than relying on an old map or neighborhood information. Wilson County Schools also handles new-student enrollment online.

Buzz Tip: If schools are an important part of your home search, check the current zoning for the specific address you’re considering rather than assuming every home in a neighborhood feeds to the same schools.
DOCTORS + HEALTHCARE 🩺
Finding new doctors is one of those things that’s easy to put off when you move…until somebody gets sick.
